| SSIHC and the Montogomery Housing Partnership
Team up to Provide Housing for Hurricane Survivors |
| SSIHC and the Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) have formed
a partnership to provide up to 11 units of supported transitional
housing for families from the devastated Gulf Coast Region. MHP
will provide the housing and SSIHC will provide the support services
for up to 12 months until the families recover from the initial
shock of their loss. Thanks for a generous grant from the Freddie
Mac Foundation, SSIHC will provide a range of intensive case management,
mental health, and job training services designed to help families
rebuild their lives. Volunteer mentors from sponsoring congregations
will help fammilies connect to their new communities.
We need volunteers to help move families into their new
homes. We especially need drivers with trucks. Also, you can help
by donating:
- Diapers and formula
- Household cleaning products
If you can, please also consider making a donation to SSIHC to help
us cover program costs. |

Welcome to the Silver Spring Interfaith Housing Coalition (SSIHC)
|
We are a private, non-profit coalition of local congregations
that provides housing, friendship, and support for our neighbors
who are homeless.
Our staff work with dozens of volunteers to renovate and maintain
affordable housing for people with very low incomes in Silver Spring
and Takoma Park. Volunteer Mentors serve as extended family members
to help our residents recover the self-esteem and sense of community
so often lost in the chaos of poverty and homelessness. |
 |
| The Silver Spring Interfaith Housing Coalition builds brighter
futures for our residents and stronger communities for all of us.
Whether you belong to one of our member
congregations or want to support our
work we welcome you to put your faith into action by contacting
us today. |
